The destination has a risk reduction, crisis management and emergency response plan that is appropriate to the destination. Key elements are communicated to residents, visitors, and enterprises. Procedures and resources are established for implementing the plan and it is regularly updated.
Example: Petra, Jordan

Petra, Jordan, has a comprehensive risk and crisis management system led by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA). The system addresses risks such as floods, earthquakes, and pandemics, with strategies developed from a 2014 risk assessment. PDTRA collaborates with Civil Defense and Police for emergency responses and operates a control room in the Petra Archaeological Park (PAP). Rangers and tourist police assist in evacuations, supported by a public warning system. Emergency information is available onsite, online, and via the official ‘Visit Petra’ app.
